Ezekiel 36:26 KJV ‘A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. ‘
Misogyny, the hatred of women, is running rampant in our society and it recognizes no borders. It manifests itself in many different manners and systems, especially in certain countries where you see the prevalent oppression of women. It is so ingrained within our society that we do not notice it as being abnormal anymore. Some of these misogynistic attitudes stem from people’s past negative experiences with those of the female gender and some are learned behaviors from one’s environment such as the way family members treated each other, from television, and even from the viewing of pornography. Lots of men actually hate women for any myriad of reasons and most don’t really even recognize that. They are blind to the fact that this attitude carries over into every relationship they have, eventually causing failure. There are also women who hate other women as well. Regardless of how the negative attitude entered in, all of it is tragic and in total opposition to how God feels about women, the women that He felt were important enough to create. The following are prayer points to help you overcome and receive healing from any hidden or overt, misogynistic feelings or attitudes you may possess, whether you know it or not.
Pray these prayers and declarations out loud.
FATHER IN THE NAME OF JESUS:
- I ask you to help me recognize and make corrections to any areas in my life where I have allowed misogynistic attitudes to take root and influence me.
- I ask you to uproot and pluck out of me all misogynistic thinking that subtly poisons my relationships and interactions.
- Lord, expose any areas where misogyny has crept in by stealth and poisoned my thinking and communication style.
- Lord, help me to see the importance of women in society so that I do not treat them like a commodity or view them from a transactional standpoint.
- Change my mindset so that I view women within the light in which you created them.
- Lord, help me understand the root causes of my misogynistic tendencies and I ask you to heal my heart and mind in those areas.
- Father, I ask you to forgive me for mishandling women and not treating them with respect due to my own misogynistic thinking patterns.
- Forgive me for following the crowd and mistreating women because ‘everyone else was doing it’.
- Father, forgive me for choosing women that fall tragically beneath the standard that would be pleasing in your eyes as defined in Proverbs chapter 31.
- Forgive me for choosing women with the purposeful intention of devaluing them.
- Father, I ask you to reprogram me and instill within me the correct attitudes and skills that I should possess regarding women and how to treat them appropriately.
- Even though some women do not value themselves, I will not allow that to deter me from treating them with a common level of respect that I would want to be treated with.
- Lord, help me to shift my thinking so that I do not habitually view all women as objects to dominate, conquer, or possess.
- Help me to not view women as only a means by which to satisfy my physical urges, containing no other meaningful value.
- Father, forgive me for utilizing prostitutes, having one-night stands, and being a part of lists with which to use women for nothing more than my own fleeting sexual urges.
- Show me how to treat the women in my life with the type of respect that pleases you, Father.
- Help me to lead by example and ignite the same type of mindsets within my male peers in their dealings with women.
- Father, I ask you to remove my heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh so that I can feel differently about the ways in which I interact with women.
- Help me to see the value of partnership with the correct person and the mutually beneficial value contained therein.
- Lord, take away any desire I may have to choose women based on how my peers will view me in regard to impressing them or seeking their approval regarding my choices.
- Father, I ask you to bring necessary corrections and lasting changes to all systems that degrade, abuse, or manipulate women due to the brokenness and lack of moral character of the men and women who work within those systems.
1 John 4:7-8 AMP ‘Beloved, let us [unselfishly] love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.] ‘
