Dream Journaling – Do it!

Job33:14-16 NKJV
For God may speak in one way, or in another, Yet man does not perceive it.
In a dream, in a vision of the night, When deep sleep falls upon men,
While slumbering on their beds, Then He opens the ears of men,
And seals their instruction.

It is a great idea to get into the habit of journaling your dreams. Even during the times that life feels busy or even hectic, God is still speaking whether we perceive it or not. Some of you may say ‘Well God never speaks to me. I never hear Him say anything.’ I beg to differ. God “speaks” in many different ways if we can train ourselves to perceive or discern His voice or message. Would you believe that some of the answers to your current situations and dilemmas may have already been provided to you via a previous dream? Possibly even years prior. Not to mention ideas, pertinent information for other people, and various other solutions and tidbits of relevant information.

Pointers for effective journaling and dream retention:

  1. Keep a pen and notebook at the ready on your nightstand.
  2. Don’t make any sudden moves upon awakening. Wake up slowly, replaying the dream in your mind while you are reaching for the notebook and pen.
  3. Write down everything you can remember about the dream including seemingly insignificant details.
  4. Analyze the dream more closely once you are fully awake.
  5. If you need help understanding the dream (or vision) submit an interpretation request on this website.

Isaiah 8:19 AMP  ‘When the people [instead of trusting God] say to you, “Consult the mediums [who try to talk to the dead] and the soothsayers who chirp and whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? ‘

Do not attempt to interpret your dreams by utilizing secular sources such as non-Christian dream symbolism dictionaries or people who dabble in the occult. These worldly sources of ‘wisdom’ are carnal in nature and any information extrapolated will not have been derived from the legal spiritual realm. Therefore, these types of sources cannot provide any type of accurate, trustworthy, GOD-BREATHED interpretation of your dream or vision.

1 Corinthians 2:14-14  AMP   But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. But the spiritual man [the spiritually mature Christian] judges all things [questions, examines and applies what the Holy Spirit reveals], yet is himself judged by no one [the unbeliever cannot judge and understand the believer’s spiritual nature].’

Happy journaling!
